AMD 64 3500+ @ 4600 RS
Gigabyte K8N51PVMT @ 3700 Rs
That makes 8300 sadly..

Intel 820 P4-LGA 2.8 GHz 800MHz, 2MB Dual core @ 4800Rs
Gigabyte GA-945G DDR2, Sata 2 @ 3900 Rs
Unfortunately this too goes to 8700 Rs
Plus Intel 8xx series have lot of heating problems....u need to get AS5 along with this processor

It will be wise to go for AMD

No it wont be wise to go for 939 now...
but your budget is too low for going for AM2

if you intend to increase you budget to 11k
then go for
ASUS M2NPV-MX @ 4800RS
AMD X2 3600+ @ 6200RS

AS5 stands for Artic Silver 5 thermal paste from Antec...which challenges to bring your temp by 5 - 10 degree

X2 always had an edge over 939...
But comparing the combo... and the price tag it got, its not bad to go for it..
But i wuld had still invested 3k more to get me good power in processing

ASUS M2NPV-MX also features same stuff HERE
so think before you go for it..
Im with X2 3600

NO....P4..
If you had more budget then offcourse C2D wuld be great..
But currently stick to AMD 939 as budget is restricting you..
yes sure you can overclock it too...but mind well its not that performer as compared to ASUS A8N-E....
so provided you have good PSU ...quality ram...then you culd easly Oc'ed
3500 to 2.3GHz+...
and if you have any trouble in over clocking..then overclock guru( deathvirus_me) is just here to help

Not gigabyte .. get the MSI K8NGM2 one , has some really good options to OC ... u can infact push the 3200+ over 2.4 GHz easily , even with cheap ram modules (just have to be ddr400) ...
