booting from external hard disk

I have an external hard disk attached to my computer. it is 40 GB using USB

I wannt to know if it is possible to install the XP on the external OS and use it as a normal hard drive ?

oh yeah.. u can do it.. u just need 2 set it as the 1st in boot order of ur BIOS!

I tried to make XP run off an external HDD in a USB2 case but was not successful. Now I have an eSATA external case and this case boots XP perfectly and at full speed of the SATA II HDD as it runs off a SATA connector on the motherboard. I get 62MB/s data transfer rates with this eSATA case.

I'm told it can b, so I'm trying it on 2morow with vista on 1 usb hdd & ubuntu on another...will let u know on sunday night how it went.
