Sud i Upgrade?????

Guys my rig's config is:

AMD Athlon X2 3800+
Asus M2N-MX
Hynix 1GB DDR2 667 (OC to 800)
160 GB WD Caviar SATA II
Asus 6600LE 256MB PCI-E

Bought it bout a month back and i'll buy DX-10 gfx card when d prices drop a little.
My OS is Windows Vista RTM and i play all d latest games.
Sud i upgrade my rig(proccy + mobo) or only upgrading the GFX crd will do?(i hav bout 22k,if i dont hafta upgrade my proccy + mobo,den i'll go for a SONY 17"TFT)
If i dont upgrade now,how long do u think will dis config last???

ur rig is good enough for 5-6 months as long as u dont buy vista as soon as it is launched
ur ram and hdd r good enough for a year+ i'd say
ur proccy is ok but ur 3d card is a little old
id say u invest in a 7600gt (maybe 8600 gt DX 10 version)
but most probably ur proccy will be a bottle neck
as ur budget is 22k i say u wait for vista to be launched (maybe ur budget will increase till then)
& after that invest in a good proccy(maybe 4400+ as its price will come down though x2 is not as good as c2d )but u should also invest in a 3d card at that time

the bottomline is...... wait
i think u should not invest in the tft
which monitor do u have?

@ssk429 At present i've a Compaq 17" crt monitor.as far as Vista is concerned i already hav d full version(i.e Vista RTM ) its running fine on my rig.No probs at all.As far as the gfx crd is concerned i'll buy DX10 crd.I was thinkin whether i'll get dat much of a performance boost if i buy C2D E6300/E6400 over my present Proccy.

Ur pc should last u a couple of months more w/o any probs

no upgrade is my suggestions , yes only thing u got to have is a dx 10 card ur version of GPU is very poor. tell me one thing y u want to upgrade, is ur procy not sufficient for the job u do. does ur appz need 100% of cpu?

nope dont upgrade now. wait for AMD's(ATI) response of g80, the r600 first and get a dx 10 card and another gig of ram.

Well to be frank you have a nice rig....just do a little OC on the processor...
Try to add another 1GB ram and a 8800GTO\GTX..

Pal i dont c any reason for u to change ur rig at this point of time,its pretty gud man juz stick to ur current comp,juz get a decent DX10 as par ur budget wen they r out.if u change ur rig now its will b insane.and i really dont think there will b much performance difference between ur X2 3800 and C2D 6300/6400.b sensible and use this for atleast 6-8 months by that time nu amd will b available for affordable price.

U've got a very decent PC there .. may not be a high end one . but definitely on the upper side of the midrange segment ... i can seriously suggest u to stick to the everything u have right now , and just focus on the GPU for the next 1 year atleast ... move onto a dx10 based GPU as soon as they launch a midrange one ...

Thnx 4 all ur replies.I aint gonna upgrade now,will wait 4 AMD's quad core proccy to be launched before i upgrade.I'm waitin 4 prices of DX 10 crds 2 drop so dat i can lay my hands on one and run some benchmarks.

You have a great config, why upgrade to any other processor/mobo? u need only a dx10 card. gfx8800 card is currently retailing for Rs.34000 with RPtek in lamington road...if u wait for a couple of months it'll b cheaper than that + u may increase ur budget to a few more thousand by that time.
