Re: CRT or LCD which is good?
its according to needds i would suggest lcd for 30k+ budget else if pc is not used for gaming
for gaming at high resolution you need CRT
else you can get CRT's cheaper

Re: CRT or LCD which is good?
LCD is good for the eyes as it does not flicker & strain the eye
CRT is good for the pocket but if not running above 85 hrz then it will show flicker & prolong use will strain ur eyes.
I am soon moving to samsung 19 inch or viewsonic widescreen for the very same reason.
You get LCD starting from 17inch for 12000/- 21inch for approx 30000/-

Re: CRT or LCD which is good?
Todays LCD or TFTs are not that bad at berfomance at all compared to good CRTs. Most 17" LCDs now are good on perfomance.
Another important factor for LCD is that the actual viewable area of a 17" LCD might be much greater than a 17"CRT, nd almost equal to a 19"CRT. So gr8 bang for the buch. U get nearly the screen size of a 19" CRT if u get a 17" TFT.

Re: CRT or LCD which is good?
response time isn't an issue now owing to new monitors out there... but i like CRTs coz they look pretty much the same from all angles. LCD's have limited viewing angles (the limits raised to a pretty much acceptable level by now). But whatever it might be.. CRTs are light on the pocket, heavy on the table. LCDs are heavy on the pocket, light on the table... but no matter what LCDs look damn sexy
for gaming, 3D modelling or any proffesional work regarding visual thingy-thingy.. go for CRT. LCDs are good for office use to match the furniture

Re: CRT or LCD which is good?
ya, even a low-end CRT is better than a good LCD, which costs Rs *****!....If u get a LCD make sure it has atleast 8ms response time..But one of my friends have ''Samsung 740N'' with 8ms response and still when u drag windows with speed u can see a ghosty image....
But if u can affort a nice LCD then get a LCD,coz they look damm good!Slim 'n' Trim!

Re: CRT or LCD which is good?
hmmm... its weird... lcd colours go weird sometimes... i made sumthn on photoshop, on my crt... and when i viewed that on an lcd, the colours went awry... if ure into designing/gaming or colour intensive stuff, crt's wud suit ya better... lcd's look cool, n occupy a lot lesser space....
but i can be sure abt one thing... colours r a lot better on crt's.... dunno abt the high end lcd's...

Re: CRT or LCD which is good?
LCDs are useful rite now only if u have power/space constraints. CRTs have a better image, wider viewing angle, no ghosting and best of all support for multiple resolutions. Have you ever tried running anything on a lcd at anything other than its native res?

Re: CRT or LCD
Definately LCD.
Why:
> you will save on electricity [big time since you use nearly 12hrs a day]
> you will save your eyes.
> you will be futureproof [if you buy a widescreen one]
