The best I've found for your price range is Kingston Data Traveler (256 MB to 2 GB) at Shopping.com. PickyGuide also has some good advice.

5000 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats toooooooooooo much for a USB drive. U could easily get a 1GB for less than 800 and for around half of ur budget, I think u could easily get one with 4Gigs, If u are a Digit reader, go through this months issue, It will help.Thanks..............

A little advise- If u really have 5000 to spare, I suggest u go for a 250 GB internal SATA Hard Disk from Seagate and invest in an external casing, both would be within ur budget. And with that u could have 250 GB's of external HDD space, Thats way above any USB drive...(Ur 250 GB will also be connected through the USB). Only cons is that , it will be a tad bigger but than its 250 GB's........................

YaH that's the best option if size doesn't matter for you...
Else go for Transcend brand.

Photoshop may work from a usb drive but it will be too slow since these usb drives are slow, better get a 80GB segate 2.5inch disk with a usb 2.0 casing &u will fly with photoshop, or if u can spare bit more than go usb/firewire combo, discussed here.
Is firewire faster than USB 2.0?

Quite true, but I use 7200 rpm portable disk with usb 2.0 & it works fine as normal disk.

An external USB flash drive will be quite slow, but If u are gonna compromise a bit on portability, just get a 40Gb laptop 2.5" HDD, and get a good plastic casing for 1-1.2k, this will cost around 3.8k but will be a fast/good solution to use portable Photoshop. The read write speeds will be about 20mbps, enough for what u need.

another way is suggested above, getting 250Gb sata and external casing, but it will be too bulky, and will need external power, quite irritating for an external drive.

actually finding a 7200rpm 40gb laptop hdd is a tuff job!!! casing is fine.. u can get a good one for 500bucks... but still running apps alike openoffice portable is fine.. but surely not photoshop! eager to see the results of the original poster!

Not anymore.
Its easily available here in delhi nehru place, both western digital & seagate.
I bought the seagate 80gb for 6900/- plus extra casing.

If u cant find 7200 rpm then atleast have 5400 rpm one, not slower than that, earlier I used that one with usb1.1 on my old system.

An internal 250GB SATA will be quite faster than any USB drives I suppose.

Are you referring to cases with fans?If yes then are they too bulky to be carried in pockets ?
