Question Pentium D with 7600GT or AM2 with 7600GT

I am planning to purchase a moderate gaming PC. (shoestring budget of Rs. 20,000/= excluding Monitor, HDD and Optical drives)

So far I shortlisted two configuration:

Intel Pentium D (dual core)+Intel D102 GGC2 ('coz it supports DDR2 )
GeForce 7600GT (256MB)
1GB DDR2 RAM (Hynix)

AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ AM2 (940 Pin)
ASUS A8N-E
1GB DDR RAM (Confused if A8N-E supports DDR2? )
GeForce 7600GT (256MB)

Can anyone comment on above?
I would be thankful if someone could suggest any other alternative (accomodating my budget)

You budget of 20k is only for mobo, proccy, RAM and graphics card?
Does it include speakers, keyboard/mouse, cabinet, PSU?
I'm going to assume it dosen't.

Athlon64 3000+ socket AM2 Rs. 4000
or
Athlon64 X2 3600+ socket AM2 Rs. 6600

Asus M2N-MX Rs. 4300
1 GB DDR2 RAM Rs. 5000
Forsa Geforce 7600GT Rs. 8800

Total Rs. 22,100

I suggest you take a AMD AM2 based PC because C2D is not in your budget and the Pentium D series is crap. If your budget is strictly 20k then take the 3000+ but if you can increase a little bit then get the X2 3600+ which is dual core. Make sure you get socket AM2 and not the old socket 939. This will give you some scope to upgrade later on.

Do you not read the entire post before writing something?
Look at the budget first and then comment.

Pentium D sucks, C2D is not in budget and 939 is outdated. So what other choice is there apart from AM2?
The M2N-MX is perfectly fine for everything except OCing and not everyone needs to OC.

I think you make a lot of sense. My budget is 20K but I would cough up 2.5K to 3K extra. I do have supporting accessories (K/b, Mouse, Speakers etc.)
OCing can never be in my purview so I am planning to go by your advise.

I had been to some replies posted by you regarding C2D. I think, I can accomodate C2D in my budget by leaving GFX card for future buy.
I decided to go for E6400 with 512MB Corsair DDR2. I am confused over mobo. One of your replies suggested ASUS P5LD2-VMSE. Still thinking over it.
Any other suggestions or alternatives?

I have a budget of 20K-22K for Proc, Mobo, 80GBSATA and Cabinet with PS.
