Default 18x DVD Writer

Hey guys im planning to buy a DVD writer next month. I was checking with a dealer and he said that SOny has released a new DVD writer which can write DVDs @ 18x. the latest one DRU-820A has a max speed of 16x. i do believe that this doesnt make much difference, but if its 18x its more future proof right?

anyway i cant seem to find any info regarding this on the internet. Any idea of any official site of Sony where we can get info abt DVD writers?

and pls help me get more info abt this drive......

i don't think there is any releases by sony on 18x writer.

only samsung has 18x writer but no one should buy samsung drives as they have a very irritating tray problem

That's a good choice but make sure it's based on a Pioneer chipset. Once you get it crossflash it with Pioneer firmware.
