Default 7.1 Audio for Computer

Hey!

I've got myself a creative Inspire t7900 + the DDTS100 Dolby decoder from creative. I've used the optical cable to connect my computer's audio out to the decoder and i do get sound, but the sound's very minimal from the rear speakers even though i've set my decoder and speakers to upmix to 7.1 .. why would that be? should i use the analog inputs perhaps? my motherboard outputs 8.1 sound. or does it make a difference when i use the co-ax SP/DIF?

I think this is the case with all of them ... if you want same sound in all speakers then either use FFDshow and user it's "Mixer" setting ...

or decrease the sound of your front speakers and pump up the overall sound of your system and you will get the same levels of sound.

I have the same mobo ...

I think all the rear speakers are designed to give low volume when you play 2 channel files like mp3 ... try playing some DVD movie ... and then check if the sound at the rear speakers is loud enough or not ...
