Re: An Ultimate Gaming Mchine For 50000
i agree with dr.varun, but for a real gaming rig, opt for nothing less than a 19" monitor, so increase your budget by a few thousand and get a 19" CRT...

Re: An Ultimate Gaming Mchine For 50000
Don't go over a 17" monitor, your budget is already pretty low to be frank, gaming without a 7900GT doesn't sound very good, 7600GT is the bare minimum.
Intel C2D E6300
MSI Neo F 965/Gigabyte 965 S3
Seagate SATA II NCQ 7200.10 200-250GB
Geforce 7900GT
2 X 1GB DDR2 533 Transcend/Corsair(provided it is supported)
Cooler Master 500/600
Samsung 798MB Plus

Re: An Ultimate Gaming Mchine For 50000
Rather than 2 7600GT I would get a single 1900xt for 24k+, or you can get a single 7900GT around 17k and oc it with better cooling.

Re: An Ultimate Gaming Mchine For 50000
SLI'ing low end cards is just foolish. When you have a higher end card that will beat 2 lower end cards in SLI why not just take that? 2 cards are just going to use up a lot of power and give the same or lesser performance.

Re: An Ultimate Gaming Mchine For 50000
SLIing 7600GTs is not exactly foolish, 7600GT X 2 = 7900GT X 1
2 X 7600GT > 7900GT X 1
but again, 7900GT is an exceptional overclocker, 7600GT starts around 8.5k from Palit

Re: An Ultimate Gaming Mchine For 50000
SLI is meant to be an upgrade path. You buy a second graphics card later when you can afford it without throwing away your old one. You don't buy 2 outright when a better single card is available. Unless it's 2x 7900GTX / X1900XTX and above.
Don't forget to count the extra cost of a SLI mobo, a SLI capable PSU and all the extra heat in your cabinet.

Not necessarily 2 7600 GT easily beat one 7900 GT. Theoritically it doubles your FPS. 7900 touches 25K mark. where as we can get 2x7600 GT for around 16 17K. BUT yea I agree on power consumtion plus if we invest on 7900 GT we still have an upgrade option later when 7900 becomes really cheap. But with 2 7600 you have no upgrade option. And you would have 2 cards to wonder what to so with when 7 series becomes obsolete ie DX10 arrives. Finally are we not forgetting that we were suppose to build a "Dream Machine"...

7900GT is nowhere near the 25k mark. It costs about 18k.

Re: An Ultimate Gaming Mchine For 50000
It doesn't double the FPS, and there is no theory to this. In some games you get 70-9-% gain in others you may get just 30-50% gain.
__________
Neither 7900GT nor 7600GT SLi are close to what I would call a dream machine, something which I really buy. To call it a dream machine I would atleast put in a 1900xt, at the very very least.

Re: An Ultimate Gaming Mchine For 50000
I never said that 7900GT is good enough for a dream machine, only that it's better than 2x7600GT. A dream machine is nothing less than Quad-SLI or 2x X1950XTX CF.

Well as I said it theoritically doubles. Attachment justify..
Quake IV 1600x1200 7900GTX.........76.6 FPS
Quake IV 1600x1200 2x7900GTX.......130 Very close to double
Quake IV 1920x1440 7900GTX.........56.6 FPS
Quake IV 1920x1440 2x7900GTX.......105 FPS More close to double.
Yes I agree.......on some game you only get 30 to 50% gain which still is very appriciable however in lots of games you strightaway get double the FPS and that is speaking practically not even in theory.
Also if we argue on Dream Machine......Simple.....go for Quad SLI with 7950GTX

Are you sure you are talking about 7900GT and not 7800GT, coz as far as I know 7800GT is around 17K and 7900GT definately croses 20K. May be I am wrong will confirm.

It was in this month's Digit. The XFX 7900GT costs exactly Rs. 18,500. Probably will be a little lesser in Lamington road.

7900GT is around 16 grand. Even the x1900gt is around the same price and a better deal imho.
