Do I really need Sound Card.

I am using compaq PC and do not have any 5.1 channel sound card or it would
be better to say I do not have any extra soundcard installed in my PC.

I am having integrated AC'97 realtek Audio( I think its not 5.1 compatible because there is only 1 line out jack in my PC)

But the problem is that I am buying Altec Lansing 251 5.1 Channel speaker
system,So for these does I really need Sound card or I am hear Music
without it.

If NOT which sound card would be a better choice???

Get some cheap Creative 5.1 Card for under 2500Rs. Don't buy the high end ones like the Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi cause the Speaker are low end.

or Sound Blaster Audigy value?

I have hcl beanstalk, motherboard asus p4 800 vm, onboard graphics and sound( sound max), 865g chipset, 256 ddr400 Mhz ram, can anybody suggest I have to buy soundcard and graphic card if so suggest what. I am planning to upgrade my pc......

i have creative soundblaster 5.1 & bot it for 1.3k rocks

Yes you do need a 5.1 card evnt to connect all the speakers. A creative card under 3K should suffice for daily use.

i am also using creative sounblaster 5.1 card and it is doing a fine job.....go 4 it...best and cheap
