I got a AMD 64 bit 3000+ GA-K8N51GMF-9 mobo 512 mb ram bought a new 160 GB Sata booting from it also attached is a 160 GB ATA now the speed of SATA disk is very slow applications take a lot of time to open boooting is slow Is there any problem is using ATA disk with SATA Regards

Check in Device Manager if the SATA HDD is running in DMA mode ... if it is shown as PIO mode then from Device Manager Uninstall the Channel to which SATA HDD is attached and on reboot the SATA HDD should work in DMA mode at normal speeds.
