upgrade from athlon XP

i have an amd athlon XP 2000+,msi 6390 mobo, 256Mb 266Mhz ddr ram, maxtor 40 gb IDE HDD, and mercury 350 watt smps.I wanna improve performance but since I only have rs 5000/-, i cant afford a full system upgrade.so i decided to go for a nu mobo and more ram.plZ suggest the latest/last mobo that can support amd athlon XP 2000+

my current mobo supports max 266 Mhz ddr ram only also the agp slot is only 4x where as my agp(XFX Gef 5200 FX) can go 8x.hence the current mobo is only givin me half the juice that i paid for.This is why I need a nu MoBo,and 512 (ddr 400)RAM.so please suggest agood one that has an agp slot and the newer tech.(SATA Firewire etc)that comes under rs 3k/- (2k for RAM)thanX in advance

No point buying a new mobo for your processor. If you have only 5000 bucks to spend, just get 1 GB of DDR400 RAM for Rs. 4,500.
Better yet save up for a whole new rig.

Welll .. if ur not much into gaming then the XP 2000+ is really good enough (specially if u have the Barton one's) .. my XP 2400+ was pretty awesome ..

Anyway .. get 1 GB ram .. u'll be amazed by the performance increase ... and specially with ddr400 modules u can OC that cpu quite a bit ... maybe u can hit XP 2800+ speeds ..
