System hangs when i try to access DVD drive

My system gets hanged when i put a cd/dvd in DVD drive (LG). Earlier there was problem with DVDs alone. Now I am unable view even the ordinary CDs. But my drive works without any problem when my cpu is kept horizontal.

Where the problem must be ? Please help me.

As I put cd/dvd in the drive system hangs within 1 min. This happens only when the CPU is kept in upright possition. But I can read & write both CDs and DVDs when the CPU is kept in horizontal position. I found this accidently. Where should the problem be ?

May be some problem with the ide cable b/w the hard disk and cd rom...jst open ur cabin and see for some loose connections.

Or maybe the drive's reading lens is not tight in position. Give more information.

not sure exactly but it's seems to be IDE cable problem. Re-connect it or change it. thx

Horizontal is the way to use it then.
