Question Lan Connection


How can i speed up my lan connection? when ever i am transfering data over the local network its very slow. pls suggest ideas.

open the lan card properties from device manager and go to advanced tab. Select 'Link speed & duplex' to 10 Mbps or above. Basically that should marginally help you. But, make sure your hdd is not the bottleneck.

BTW did it used to be faster earlier?? Post ur transfer speed and 'connected at' speed.

data transfer speed depends upon distance between computers ,cable used for lan and somwhat on u r ethernet card.

see if you are using a hub to connect your lan( which is quite obvious )then there is no way to make your lan connection fast. becasue hub first broadcast the data over the network n checks every machine for correct delievery which cause a problem n data transfer will be slow.

9-10 MBps speed between two pc through ethernet switch...

and less speed on network of ISP between two pc through lan messenger softwares...
