Default CD ROM not detected in BIOS but works in XP

I have a GIGABYTE 8I915 motherboard P4 2.66 Ghz with a 80 gb SATA harddisk and a samsung combo drive.
I recently formatted my disc(first time) but now when i insert the bootable cd of XP it is not detected.
Also the cd rom drive does not showup as either IDE master or slave in the bios. I was able to run any other cd previously so i know that the cd drive is all right.
So basically I am not able to boot through any bootable CD and i m stuck with a formatted disc.
Any help in this matter would be welcome.
Thnx

Most probably, it is a jumper problem. Check if the jumper settings on the CD drive is fine. It should not clash with the settings of the hard disk.
