Smile Need a Laptop for 40k-45k


How is amd turion 64 bit X2?
Does it hav good performance and good battery life?
It is better than intel core solo?


Also i need a good configuration for 40000 to 45000 range
It should hav a dvd writer and 512mb minimum
Also it should be branded
Is compaq computers having a lot of complaints?

The Turion 64 X2 is AMD's latest flagship mobile processor. But AMD still has to do a lot of catching up work for their mobile processors. The Turion 64 X2 support 64 bit computing but its still based on their old k8 architecture but only diff in these being there are 2 cores. What sucks about the newer turions is they still boast a patheticly low L2 cache (2x256=512KB) so it doesnt have enough firepower for multimedia apps and stuff. Besides chipsets for turions dont make the laptop featuring them any better with lower battery life. So, Intel is the way to go for notebooks. Dothan, Yonah, Merom.....

You can configure Dell's Inspiron 640m with the DVD writer for a litlle over 45k.

so u feel that it's not as good as pentium m 1.8ghz or core solo?
