Sony SDM-E76D or Samsung 740N !?

Now my head is spinning.
just as i was about to seal my deal on the 740N(11.3k) i was shown the Sony SDM E-76D(12.6k) 17 incher. and i liked it. but decided against buying it in a hurry. Its got DVI, 740N is only analog. but i cant find anything on the internet about E76D, no reviews nothing

500:1 contrast ratio (on many sites like cnet etc it showing as 600:1, but i remember seeing on the box 500:1)

ps: while googling for the sony tft SDM-E76D , SDME76D etc diff combinations yeild diff results

the review of the Sony tft doesn't look pretty. on one side theres DVI, the negative 500:1 contrast ratio, and trouble with colours + Rs 1.3k extra. ill be getting a board which supports DVI, MSI K8NGM2 tho.

so how should i decide ? how important is the contrast ratio factor while deciding. on some sites it mentions the contrast ratio as 600:1 so does it mean both are the same hardware, only rated differently depending un the strictness of the laws of the country?
anyone with firsthand experience ?

I also plan to buy a TFT. Yesterday when I enquired, the dealer suggested Dell E196FP (Rs.16750) and the LG 1730 S (Rs.11400). But they had no idea reg. the refresh times. I think they are 12 ms and I want lower timings. They also had Sony TFTs demonstrated which looked much better in picture quality but the dealer said after sales service is not good in case of Sony.
