Can't Boot from (Sony DRU - 810 A)

hi,

I have strange problem with my dvd-writer (Sony DRU-810 A).It can't boot the OS.....(let me clear)...

when i try to format my machine...and assign this optical drive(DVD-Drive) as fast boot device in the bios it can't boot from the XP cd....the cd is absoloutly perfect and i format from that cd couple of times....even i try the diffrent XP cds and other several OS like PC BSD,Fedora Core,Mandriva,Ubuntu (Original) all are bootable disc....and the condition is fine.

again when i am trying with a diffrent optical drive in my machine.....everthing is fine.It proves that there is nothing wrong in my whole system(i,e Bios/HDD).

Now my question is the Sony DRU-810 A not capable to booting OS ?

or my drive is deffective?

How i can solve this problem ? is there a firmware update needed ?
I don't know anything about firmware update....

If there is any weblink plz.....mention.....
Besides this till now there is no problem with my DVD-Writer.....



My machine Conf:-
Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz
Intel 945 GTP
1GB DDR2 566 MHz
160GB SATA 7200 RPM Seagate
1.44 Sony FDD
Sony DRU-810A (Burning Software Nero 7)


N.B:-i bought the dvd-writer in october 2005....but it is the first time now when i need to use this drive to format my machine.

Well.....for boothing the optic drive should the master...and not slave...so check that.......

There was only one IDE device in my sysytem and it set as a primary master....coz the 945 mobo have only 1 IDE channel.
HDD is the sata....
