Post laptop Hdd back up

Dear friends,

I am copier service engineer, My problem is, one of the canon digital copier got a laptop hdd in its printer board. I want to copy the contents of the hdd to another one. How I should do this. The contents is pcl & postscript software installed in it.

I heared that one of a technician in the field can do this by connecting the laptop Hdd to a desk top via IDE and copying the files

I also tried but it does not shows the contents in the hdd, but it detects in the device manager.

Plaese help for my problem
