IS 256MB AGP card = (near about) 128 MB RAM + 128mb AGP card

Hey Experts,

I have a query for you.

I like to know, do I have to purchase 256 mb ram of graphics card or can I achieve a near about performance by assigning 128 mb of my RAM to graphics card(128 MB) from BIOS.

Scenario:

IS 256MB AGP card = (near about) 128 MB RAM + 128mb AGP card


Also I want to know the price difference in 6800 GT of 128 mb and 256 mb card.

I am using 1 GB of RAM in my system.

no .. the card should have its own local texture mem.

Also , 6800GT's are no longer manufactured , and u won't find any 128 MB ver. around .. u'll have to get a 6800GS instead ...

getting 128MB would be quiet difficult i say.But yeah,256MB version is still available at few outlets,if you can try.6800GS is a bit scaled down version of GT,but with high end fabrication process.

you should buy ram and graphic card separately.

Also to make full use of a 6800GT class graphic card you need atleast 1GB ram, 2GB recommended, so 128mb hardly makes a difference there.

Instead of getting a 256mb geforce 6800GS get a 256mb 7600GT which is much better and should cost around 11k.

Alternative:Radeon X1800GTO but it might cost maybe 1-2k more or so.

^^Read you idiot... its AGP . How will he fit a 7600GT into an AGP slot? With a hammer and chisel or what . First of all crook whats ur budget?
