Primary Slave failed ???

Hi
Ma primary master is western digital hdd => 160 gb !!
I have 2 more hdds samsung and seagate both 80 gbs. Now whenever i insert any of them to primary slave...the screens comes up with "primary slave failed". Both act normal when i insert them as primary master. Any combination of 2 outta these 3 hardisks i take it shows same error.
I also replaced the ide connector...but the problem remains.

What cud be the problem ??

check the jumper settings ifu not sure of wer to put c da guide or take out the jumper it wil b a slavethen only

Have you made sure about the jumper setting, ie., master or slave?

ya, its mostly probably the jumper settings. Try as slave without jumpers.

ok i C...thanx....but can u brief me about the exact positioning of jumpers of hardisk? I know the setting for CDrom but not the hdds!

Usually the position of jumpers for diff configurations are shown on the side of the drive. Otherwise look in the website of the manufacturer.
