Smile ram problem


i have p4 ,1.5 ghz ,40gb hdd and 128 mb ram

should i upgrade to 512mb or 1gb,2gb ram BY ADDITIONAL OR REPLACING OLD RAM
what other modifications are required
what type of ram- sdr,ddrII. or ddrIII.

Well..u should replace ur ram with a new 512MB or 1Gb stick....according 2 ur needs.....But go for a 400 MHz stick....check if ur mobo supports this speed...... the type of ram depends entirely on ur mobo....so refer to ur mobos manual....and check if it is SD or DDR SD....I don't think it will be DDRII....and DDRIII impossible......for the brand go for Transcend/TwinMos/Zion/Kingston etc.....

DDR III ? well currently a 1GB ddr3 memory costs around $600 , nvidia 7950 Gx2 ...lol

the worst option of all the above is to get "additional 512Mb ram", u can very trivially run into issues and face BSOD's, so dont mix them up, also mention what ram have you got right now.

i would suggest u replace it ad get 512 Mb ram, your computer will not benifit from more ram than 512 Mb, 1Gb might increase the performance very slightly, but not worth actually...

And go for 1Gb at max......don't go for 2Gb its of no use unless u have a good processor and gfx card......
