Loud Noise from PC-help

I am having Intel 915GAV chipset family and P4 HT processor 256MB RAM, after some time the CPU shouts vvvvvvvrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooom for some time and stops then their again it comes and the process repeats. The computer works fine but still i am afraid that some damage has taken place.
pleae help my PC is my Life...

It may be becoz of overheating.....so check if u are getting that sound only when the processor is at load...or even if it idle....Try cleaning the heat-sink with a brush...it might be dirty....Organize the power cables..to ensure better air flow...

Well theat sound seems to be coming from cpu fan when it might be at full load , check the temperature of the CPU at such instants. Soket 478 processors are prone to overheating

yeah , that's the prob i think coz when i had a socket 478 p4 , then it used to overheat and the fan made a veru loud buzzing noise when i played games , etc
