Question Hard Disk-Motherboard Compatibility Issue

I use a PC with a P4- 2.4 Ghz Processor/512 MB DDR RAM and a Gigabyte 845 chipset motherboard with 2 IDE connectors.I'm using two HDD's, a 40Gb and a 120GB now.I also use a CD writer.I want to add another hard disk .I wanted to know what is the maximum ATA /IDE HDD size that the 845 chipset board will support.I asked many vendors here in SP Road, Bangalore but got a mixed response. Some said the max it supports is 160GB and a few others said it will support 200GB.Can anyone help me with this?

Default Re: Hard Disk-Motherboard Compatibility Issue

How many IDE port do u have? Most probably you have 3 IDE connector. So you can maximum connect 4 drives. It includes the HDD and CD/DVD RW etc.
If you have only one optical drive then you can connect one more HDD.
