Hey Guys.
I was wondering if any body knows of a good place to buy hardware in Kolkata?
The problem i face is that the few shops i have been to carry only the basic standard fare.

Let me know about any place where one might get quality parts without getting ripped off

YOU CAN GO TO RADHA BAZAAR which is behind police HQ lalbazaar . you can get some computer shops there or else you can come to central metro station and there are many shops there between central & chadni-ck( i mean not at metro station but u have to go up and roam ) . every shop, as usual will tell u my shop is the cheapest so take from me .
make an exact list of what u will buy and get the product code also. like there are specific code for venice core AMD processor which when u will buy u must check . u please go to at least 4-5 shop then select which one to buy . ask about warranty, service all these issues . and dont go to XCEL COMPUTERS at radha-bazaar . they will cheat u on every point .there is a guy called Amit who is one of the top cheater in kolklata . so remember dont go to xcel computers

Well u could go to Chandni Chowk, lots of shops out over there. Nearest location would be the Chandni Chowk Metro station.

anyway, correct me somebody if I am wrong but there's NO shop in Kolkata from where you can get non standard hardware on a regular basis. Maybe every now and then you can find some more variety but thats it. Dont the distributors realize theres a somewhat decent market for such things, waiting to be tapped ???
even if you do find some uncommon piece of hardware, the shopkeepers will try their best to make sure that you are relieved of a heavy amount of cash to purchase it

when are we going to have a "Lamington Road" in Kolkata?

BTW, I heard that an Electronic Retail Hub is going to be launched in Kolkata ... hope this is not a rumour

And another thing, do not go to supreme computers and saboo computers. They always qoute higher prices. You can try the Rashi peripherals distributor which is a small shop opposite saboo computers, Savera marketing agency. They stock quality parts at reasonable prices. Address is 1, Ganesh Chandra Avenue.

Supreme is ****ty ... i'd say Eastern Logica Infoway .. or Technocrat .. or Lalani .. the prices are just about 100-150 buck more than what the actual price should be .... take this instance ..

At supreme .. a few days back .. they quoted 2200 for ddr266 512 MB module .. whereas at Eastern Logica they gave 2300 for ddr333 512 MB modules .... u get it ???

A bit through the roof... known for selling at retail The best thing in Kol is to use one guy and stick to him for some time... then you generally can get good deals...

Kollkata SUCKS bigtime as for latest H/w compared to other Metros like Mumbai,Bangalore,Delhi etc.........me not from Kolkata.....but has beeen 2 all the location/address u r all telling many times.......Majority time>Item Not Found!

.....what's the BIGGEST prob @ kolkata dealers/or mayb for whole Eastern zone...is ppl doing this business with absolute no basic knowledge abt computers & current/latest trends.......& WORST of all .....thier utter gutter attitude with customer dealings

Any knowledgeble person after FAILING 2 buy latest h/w & gadgets @ kolkata shops seriously begins to think..he is JUST the worst STUPID living@kolkata & having strong negative hallucinations & day dreams abt his entire nontheless failed tech-life!

To be honest....living life as a techie in Kolkata is HELL!

I Really dunno.WTF is the prob with Kolkata H/w vendors?
When there is so much development@kolkata in other fronts & the cityscape is changing so rapidly,when will they(the H/w traders) learn to revamp their H/W business too?
They simply do that business as if they were dealing in Onions & Potatoes,mayb that sort of business is soon reaching EXpiry date! they will surely have tgo change evrything when Buddha put IT in REAL infrastructure factor of WB development!

Untill the day Buddha smiles, mayb BEST 2 keep our fingers crossed!
