Default Computer Start up - Please help

My PC does not start on the first attempt when I switch it on. The reset button needs to pressed every time I switch it on. But when I restart it thru windows it restarts without pressing reset button. If anyone could help me with this issue please let me know.

The PC has Asus A7V8x-x motherboard with AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 2 Ghz CPU and Geforce4 MX 440 with AGP8X and 256 MB RAM. I am running Windows XP service pack 2.
