Unhappy HELP!!! PC refuses to Boot up

Hi
I had assembled my PC a few months back (1st time)
The specs are

Intel p4 HT Chip
Intel D915gav MOBO
512 MB Kingston Ram (1 DIMMS)
120 GB SATA HDD

1 DVD - RW (Sony)
1 DVD - ROM (Sony) Total Two Optical Drives
1 FDD

XP Professional

Graphics and Sound are onboard

This worked fine for about 6 months then recently it started giving problems.

The PC would refuse to boot up sometimes.
The lights come on. and the fans start but there is no display
But when it does boot up there are no problems it works just fine

I got my PC checked by my local PC wallah and he asked me to get the MOBO Checked which i did and i was told there is no problem with the mother board

Then i was told that perhaps the power suppy was not adequate(i had a 250W SMPS). I changed this to a 400W Frontech SMPS

This seemed to have solved the problem but then after a day or so it started again
and now this time no abount of fiddling seems to make it restart.

Please tell me what might be the problem

thanks

Hey I also think its ur ram that is problematic coz I also had the same problem and had a helluva problem trying to fix it up. So then what u can do is take ur ram to a friends machine and check it. If it doesnt work or gives any problems u might know. To check the ram try unzipping rar and/or zip files most of them give crc errors when the ram is faulty. U can also get ur friends ram to check out ur machine and then u might get the fault sorted out.
