Directx 10 Vs Directx 9

hey guys i dont know about technical difference between them but i had a question. What happen when i install directx 10 with vista, i know winxp wont hav directx 10, so can i plan D10 games on my D9 Graphic Card, or can i play D10 games on WinXp. Is D10 backward compatible with D9 cards.

dx 10 isn't out and won't run anyways on win xp

no dx 10 is out right now either

a dx 10 game can't run on a dx 9 card unless it supports dx 9 as well
