Exclamation Questions on RAM

I have a motherboard which supports 266Mhz DDR Ram. I want to buy a new one. Problem is that I cannot find 266 Mhz RAM anywhere, only 333MHZ or 400Mhz. Will a 333Mhz RAM work on a motherboard which supports 266MHZ RAM?

There will be no problems? This means that the Ram will work at 266Mhz instead of 333Mhz? So it is perfectly compatible right?

Coz when I went to the vendor he said that nahi chalegi, and I wud have to change the frquency or something in the BIOS...............?

Yes u can plug a 333 Mhz on a mobo that supports 266 Mhz but it will work at only 266 Mhz......not 333 Mhz....So go for a 333 Mhz memory module..

the new 400/333 modules will automatically scale themselves down to the supported frequency.

Get the 333 MHz one. U can later sell ur old 266 one a buy another RAM and then both will work at 333 MHz. U will not face any problems at all.
