Default com port


I m using a external modem which is connected to COM port 1..... through a 9 pin connector....but I want to connect another device onto this com port and also run my modem simulteanously.... can it be done.... ok instead of connecting both on the same port,,,, can we connect the modem to any other,,, plz help ,,, remember I have a 9 pin connector common to both these devices....

If you don't have another port connector coming out from your board, you can buy one and attach it on motherboard. surely your motherboard will have option for another port. else try for 9 pin to usb converter.

Yep get a 9 pin to USB connector and use any 9pin device via the USB port.But I have a doubt,will it install the drivers o its own>>

@vandit that's for the IR receiver right??? You can get a PCI Serial port card!!!
