Default Installing Windows 98SE

Hi......

I had system wiht following configuration:~

P4 2.66 GHz Intel Processor
Intel D101 GGC Original Intel Motherboard
512 MB RAM with 400 MHz Speed
80 GB SATA HDD - Seagate
Combo Drive - LG
LG Color Monitor

I want to install Windows 98SE in this system but unfortunatelly it can not respond me properly. Whenever I start installation it will start as usually, but whenever it restart at first time(OS loaded and check for hardware configuration - approximate 16 Minute remaining) my system will be hang, thus I make it reboot by pressing reboot butoon. Now system can not view anything It can view me windws welcome screen but after viewing this screen system will show black screen only. I tried to reinstall again and again but same kind of problem I face.

Can any one know the solution of this? Should I install windows 98 with above system configuration? If yes, then how? Please reply me via post or via my personal mail id : gunjan_mehta_now@yahoo.com

Please.......

Hi! Gunjan
I think ur mobo doesnot support WIN98SE see this http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/whql.htm , infact on intel site is showed only support for WINXP 32bit/64bit version not even WIN2000. My friend also faced this problem while installing WIN98 but for WINXP there was no difficulty in installtion. So I would suggest that u install WinXP.

I think windows 98 se does not support SATA drives. So try disabling SATA in bios and then installing Win 98 to a IDE drive if you have one.
This worked for me in my 865GBF!!!

Nice signature John..., anyway, all the newer boards do not support Win98/ME. Please install WIndows XP professional with SP2. Why do you want to install windows 98 which is more than 7 years old anyway?!

Afaik, Windows 98 will not be installed on this configuration!
Try to install Windows XP with SP2 or Linux
