No guys !!! Sata II is a different from SATA I , your motherboard need to have a support for this sata II technology else the hdd wouldnt work at those speeds.

Although i heard that Sata II hdds are backward compatible , means they would work on sata I mobos too....is it true ?

Do u guys mean tht it will work on my mobo, but will work as SATA 1 giving be same transfer rate about 15o mb/s
So now its worth taking SATA 2 drives then SATA 1 right..

@ymhatre definetly taking a SATA 2 will be good if u ever upgrade ur mobo u will not need a HDD upgrade for higher speeds just adjust the jumphers.

@medigit buying a large HDD is always good. I would suggest u to get the biggest HDD which u can afford. Whatever is the size of HDD one day u will feel it is small.
