Well I use SAMSUNG 793s and it gives excellent performance and it's been around 2 year since i've been using it without any problem. I also work in MAX and Cinema4d.
Currently using at a resolution of 1280 X 960 @ 72 Hz.

No, it is not the best 17 "CRT out there.
you may look out for Philips,Viewsonic and Sony too.

I use a lg e700sh flatron 17' , good one.

My choice 4 best is an acer model 17', not flat , but supports a res of 1600*1200. google it to find model name. My frnd has it and it is simply great especially if u have a super system and wanna frag at high res

Go for SamSung 793s.It's very good and I'm using
it for the last 8 months. ViewSonic is also equally
good. ViewSonic is the number one selling monitor
brand in the US.

Hey,.... if you r a 3d modeler go for 19" monitor instead of 17".

Consider 19" samsung 997DF monitor for 12800/-.
It has gr8 reviews but it is available in white only.

My word, go for ViewSonic E72F+SB. Sony and Phillips are quiet good but am not very sure about their after sales support across the country.

I agree, Viewsonic is a very good brand. myself using the E70fsb....the diff between "f" and "fsb" is only the monitor's outer color the latter is silver black and also diff between e70 and e72 is that e72 's back is round and not like other ordinary crt monitors, anyways the performance between all these models are more or less the same, the performance and clarity are awesome
