Default Mthrbrd's gone.Shuld i take AMDAthlon64HT3000+/P4 2.66GHz

My motherboard's gone... broke down this week after 6 years of super use... say @least 15hrs of work daily... heavy duty...

Now.. it was a PIII 1GHz, an 815 board & 256MB SDRAM...

@ the repair.. they said of a replacement as the mthrbrd chip was gone and local repair can't be done... They asked me to change the board... which is btw... not available here...

Can anything be done about it.... and if no.... the next sentence....

Now, I've doubt on whether to buy

an AMD Athlon 64 HT 3000+, socket 754 processor with motherboard for 7.7k
or
a Pentium 4 2.66GHz 533MHz FSD 1MB L2 cache with motherboard for 8.1K

I'm a frequent user and do a lot of gaming and audio-video conversion...

In short; a hightime user, with my rig on for @least 14-20hrs everyday...

Need reply urrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggentttt.....

AMD is Better and very good performance. Coz I have AMD64 3000+ and Pentium 4 3GHZ. I tried with lot of application like Photoshop, 3D Max Rending and Maya. Graphic and Multimedia application I felt AMD is Much better. If you use Office Application, Tally other accounting software then Intel is good.

AMD´s are much cooler than INTEL´s ..... that was a problem in past.... and the situation is quite contrary now...

for the 2 combinations u mentioned...
THEY ARE NOT EVEN REMOTELY COMPAREABLE..
the AMD combo will beat the **** out of the intel one and is also cheaper....

Get the AMD combo. It will heat less than Intel. It's performance will be much better even when multitasking

I suggest not socket 754 processor but socket 939 processor of 3000+ and Asus A8N-VM. Search in the market if you get some combo deals with Asus/MSI board, specially RS480M2/482M2-IL.
