Default Flash Disk Problems

Ok it happens thus, 1 of my friends flash disk(local pen drive 256mb) is not being detected.

So how to get the pen drive working??

Secondly, a few questions on flash disks are as follows
When we plug the usb device into the usb port, a new icon is available in the system tray named "Safely remove hardware". Now the question is wat will happen, if we remove the device without clicking on "Safely remove hardware".

Many of my friends said, the device gets corrupted. But wat if a system hangs, and we have no way to stop the device.
Also, if the system restarts because of fluctuations, etc. wat shud we do.

bye

There are greater chances of corruption if there are power cuts or fluctuations when the data transpher is taking place.

BTW, don worry about "Safely remove hardware" if ur system hangs.

While removing my pendrive, I never use "Safely remove hardware" option . I just close all the files in pendrive and plug it out.
There is no problem for the past 2 years I am using this method and no loss of data. Only ensure that no file is kept open
