Default How much overall PC performance diff by add 512 MB ram

Amd Athlon XP 1800+
MSI KT4 mobo
512 MB ram DDR 333
5200/128 AGP 8x

Sony cd writer
Dlink Lan card

Now If I add 512 MB ram by how much %ge will the performance increase? The PC is mainly use for gaming, photoshop and movies.
I am going to buy a 6600 GT/128 card for a frnd in next week, maybe friday. I will buy the ram for myself at that time only.
Plz, reply.

Firstly, don't buy 6600 GT/128 card.
Nvidia has released GeForce 7800 GS graphics cards for AGP-based systems.

http://www.nvidia.co.in/object/IO_29186.html

Try to go for it.

Yes, u will get a performance boost but not that much by adding more RAM. But while buying RAM, buy the identical RAM which u have.

@nikdesign4u,
if u buy additional 512 MB RAM, yes there will definitely be a performance increase as far as gaming and using photoshop is concerned, i.e quick loading and rendering time. if ur mobo has a dual channel option try enabling it by buying a RAM similar to what u have and inserting it in the correct DIMM of ur mobo.
i suggest u go for the 6600 GT, way economical as compared to 7800 GS, and the performance boost for gaming will be HUGE!!!!!!!!! since u have a 5200 the difference in gaming will be like DAY and NIGHT!!!!!!!!

cha.

Well U can buy 6600 GT/128 card. It is good.
But if u can afford, then buy GeForce 7800 GS/256MB graphics card.

RAM will definitly boost ur performance and it is a gud future investment.

6600GT - around 7500/-

7800GT- around 32,000/-

I think 6600GT 128 MB will b a gud option.

@q3abhi:

U quoted price for 7800GT which is for PCIX-16 slot. It also has onboard 512 MB RAM.

7800GS is an agp card with 256MB RAM.
It will definetly be cheaper than 7800GT.
