Default which should I buy AMD 3000, 3200, 3500+

I am thinking of buying a new processor. Please suggest me which processor to buy whether 3000+, 3200+, 3500+ and also tell me their prices. My motherboard supports socket 939.

price of amd 3200>>> 7500-7800
amd 3500 >>> 10500
amd 3000 >>> 6000

all these r 939 pin processors so ur mobo will support 'em..
now it depnds upon ur requirements n budget as to which processor u need to buy.
3500 is the best after dual core amd x2 processors. recommended for a high-end gaming rig.
for decent future proof performance 3200 is recommended...u'll b able to make a good mid-end system using it.
ultimately it all boils down to how much money u can spend...

If its not so urgent then you can wait for say 2 months and get an AMD X2 3800+. Right now its price is ~16.5k, after 2 months it may drop down to 12-13k. IMHO, it would be a really good deal. It again depends on the MB that you have.

If you dont want to wait then go ahead with 3200/3500, both are good for gaming. IMHO the minor difference b/w processing power should not be a major concern for gaming as the GFX will affect the performance more than anything. But if you are into some other field like DTP animations etc, then go for the fastest processor you can afford.

Hi Kaustav,

First check www.deltapage.com for the latest on hardware prices. I am giving you a rough idea for the components you have specified.

AMD Athlon 64 3500+: 10500
Asus A8N-E Mobo; 5600
2X512 MB Transcend DDR 400 Ram Modules; 4500
XFX Geforce 6600 GT 128 MB; 8500-9000
Hitachi SATA II 80 GB HDD; 3000
Liteon Super AllWrite SHM-165P65; What is this, DVD-writer? then you got a deal at 3500 from Liteon/Sony
any Mercury ATX cab; 1200
PowerSafe 400 W PSU; 1500

6600GT is minimum. Better go for 6800GS if you got the money.

Hey I am quite sure that 3500+ costs around 10500. Also 1GB RAM will cost 4200 to 5000 depending upon brand. Search around for shops selling those and I am sure you will find a good deal. I think your dealer is telling very high prices.

6800GS will cost 13750 plus 4% VAT if you buy directly from Rashi Peripherals. And they also give you 3 year carry-in warranty.

If you ain't willing to spend so much, then I suggest the following:

3200+
1GB RAM
80 GB SATA-II
6800GS
A8N-E
450W powersafe
ATX cabinet from any reputed make
Sony Dual layer DVD writer, etc

Where are you from?

Thanks !I'am from Durgapur studying in class 11.Liteon is better than SONY because it has lesser media compatibility issues. Moreover since 6800GS is fast so a 3200+ will bottleneck it.A 3500+ will be a better bet.So whats you config?? How much it cost you??

Also i've heard that 3800+ X2 is available for about 15.5k.Do you know anything about it??Please let me know soon! By the way whats your occupation and name??

Well, I am using 3000+ with 6800GS and no problems, maybe because I don't ramp up the resolutions over 1024 X 768 due to monitor limitations. My config is 3000+, A8N-E, 1GB RAM, 450W PSU, 6800GS, 80GB HDD, Sony DDU1615 DVD ROM and not to forget ALtec Lansing MX-5021...

If you got the money, might as well get the 3800+ X2. Well, my dream is getting a FX-60 some day.

I will PM you the reply regarding other personal questions...

To kin.vachhani:

XFX 6600 128 MB costs about 6-6.6k. There is no use going for the 256 MB variant because the card's core is not fast enough to utilise all the excess memory in buffer. Best bet is to go for the 128 MB GT version in the low-end segment with retails for about 8-8.5k

The distributor of Rashi Peripherals in Kolkata is Savera Marketing Agency. The address is 1, Ganesh Chandra Avenue (10mins from Chandni Chowk Metro station, towards Dalhousie.). The persons there are very friendly. The shop is located opposite Saboo Computers.

I have not modded my case anytime. It is a simple Frontech cabinet. Actually I do not have time for all these fancy stuff. Most of my time after office goes into playing lots of latest games.

And thanks for the information regarding 3d mark06. I will buy this month's digit ASAP.
