Default Vanished Disk space!


ok, i recently was looking around my system manually when i suddenly realized that in the disk properties of c: it is showing 7.9 GB used while when i select all the files(including system files & page file) i got 6.9 GB where is my 1 GB gone????

and also, i was looking at the disk management thingy when i found out that it showed my 80GB Seagate disk as 74.53 GB and my 40 GB maxtor disk as 37.27GB.... what is going on? how the Hel!! 5.47+2.73+1= 9.2 GB!!!
now that is some space to worry about! how can i fix this.... what is happening?? help me on this, ppl!!

after so many posts here,
u still ask tht

windows recognizes
1mb as 1024kb
1gb as 1024mb
and so on

whereas the HDD manufactureres c it as 1mb=1000kb and so on

and for the first query
the space is taken by system restore
and if u have turned it off
then maybe its the paging file

ok agreed,
but if i calculate it the windows way then the total disk space is supposed to be 76.3GB and 38.14 GB respectively

so i'm nearly missing 2.5 GB!

1024*1024*1024
i.e. bytes->kb->mb=gb
now calculate
