Default dvd drive not working

I have a PC with P4 630, 512MB RAM, GeForce 660GT etc. without a UPS or Floppy Drive. The problem is that my Samsung Octoedge SH-M522C Combo Drive is just not working after a power failure. It doesn't show up in My Computer and in Device Manager, its status is

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may
be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

The troubleshooter doesn't help either and there are NO drivers on the Net. I have a driver CD but as my Cd drive's not working ....

Help guys!!!

Assuming u have XP, uninstall ur drive and then restart ur computer. XP shud automatically detect it and install appropriate drivers for it

It detects the drive and displays the foll

TSSTCorp CD/DVD SH-M522C detected

then
A problem occured during installation, the drivers are corrupted or not installed.

If you go to http://www.samsungodd.com you will find firmware updates for this drive. If that doesn't work, download "winmtkflash" from here:

http://digi.rpc1.org/mwf.htm

Try using IDE mode if the ATAPI mode does not work. Read the instructions on the web page very carefull, as all this is very risky.

I had one of these "Octoedge" drives with me, and mine NEVER wrote a CD correctly, always having power calibration errors. The calibration unit in the drive seems screwed up, as lots of drives of this model are going repeatedly for warranty, and my drive went for warranty service 3 times and yet didn't get fully repaired! My dealer told me that this model was problematic, lots of units were going in for service. In the end, I decided to throw away this drive and buy an LG, which works really good.

Good luck with your drive!

Then it was just a case of corrupt Windows drivers.....Good for you. You are lucky to have a SH-M522C combo drive that does write CDs correctly.
