Default UPGRADE NEEDED........... BUt WHAT??????

HI Gus
I have Pentium 4 2.4Gz (478 pins)
Intel original mother board 845Gb ( Agp uptill 4X)
768mb ram ( 512 + 256)
40 GB 5400 rpm HDD
Geforce fx 5200 256 mb graphics card ( 8x but working at 4x cuz of mobo)

I need performance from this configuration
Like I enjoy playing games like COD2, NFSMW, POPT2T etc
but play them at low special effects
Even transfering Data frm one partition to other takes more time even on fresh installed OS.
i think 768 is enough ram
even 2.4 is normal
so Wht shld i upgrade

[/b]Hav a budget of 8K - 10K
PLz tell ur opinion
THNX.........

You Should Consider Upgrading your motherboard. If you do not want to upgrade your processor, then go for the AsRock P4 Dual 915-GL.Although the chipset of the motherboard is 915GL,it supports socket 478 processors like the Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz.Also, the motherboard has got both AGP 8x and PCI-E slots. Its a steal at Rs 3900.

Upgrade your hard disk. That might be the sole reason why data transfer speeds are not up to the mark.Buy a Samsung or Seagate 80 GB SATA Hard Disk.It will cost about Rs 3300.

The total Price is Rs 7200.It meets your budget.

U can upgrade HDD to 80/120GB 7200 rpm. Your ram speed we hope is 400MHz.
Make one dedicated partition for OS.
