Default Which is better:AMD sempron 2500+ or sempron 2600+

Guys this question has been plaguing my mind for some time now.
2600+ has only 128KB L2 cache while 2500+ has 256KB L2 cache.
but 2600+ has 200Mhz higher frequency thn 2500+.
So does the increased frequency make up for the lower cache or is 2500+ better????

i think sempron 2500+ is better bcoz of its having 256 kb cache....u cant change the cache, but u can overclock the cpu to get similar clock speeds like the sempron 2600+
hence the former is a better buy and also costs less...

it completely depends on what apps u will be running on the processor, for cache sensitive apps the 2 will perform the same but in general 2600+ will easily outperform 2500+ coz 200Mhz is a lot of difference... now u as me what are cache sensitive apps... well games!!

so my suggesion... if there is a big difference in price, get 2500+ and overclock it...

Price difference is only 500 bucks.
I want to invest in a better perfomer.
I will not play any games on it.
But i will run vista on it.I am going for 512 DDR ram.
So which is better suited for me?
also how much can they b overclocked?
i donot plan to use any xtra coolin for the cpu but i have 2 system fans.

but if u getting something like MSI-RS482 get 2600+ coz 200Mhz is quite a diff....

stay away from AGP based mobos also the two mobos you have specified cannot run vista in full glory without an xtra 3d card as the onboards do not have shaders at all, u'll pay bout 2k more if u go for one of the cheaper 6100 based 754 boards eg biostar but it'll be worth the diff

see if u can get ASUS K8S-MX slightly better than K8V-MX

or else get K8V-MX with 2500+ this should be under 5 k. this will overclock well.....

@teknoPhobia
he is searching for a budget solution and AGP port is ok for that..... now if he can strech sure he should get a 6100 based board.... but i think this should be ok...

Just got the prices from nehru place 2day
ASUS K8V-MX+2500+ = 5200
ASUS K8V-MX+2600+ = 5450
Gigabyte K8V800M-L + 2500+ = 5000
Gigabyte K8V800M-L + 2600+ =5200
I will buy the motherboard and cpu in a week and so....u can continue giving ur suggestions.
