Trouble with USB pen Drive

I had recently purchased a sony USB mp3 player -cum- pen drive having 256 mb memory, through ebay (I think it is a fake one). It was working fine initially and I was able to transfer some files. When I formatted the device, the device shows the memory space as only 118 mb. Is there any way to recover the remaining 138 mb of memeory space? If a firmware update can solve the problem, from where can I download it?
