Default Is a firmware upgrade really necessary???

I am having a samsung sm-352n cdrw/dvd-r combo drive. I run Xp professional with sp2. I read in some technical reviews that a firmware upgrade would improve performance on my drive. But they have also told that it might cause problems. As of now i am not facing any problem with my drive except buffer underrun errors while writing at express speeds!! Do i have to upgrade my firmware ??? And is it safe???

upgrade u'r firmware only if it starts to give problems, firmware upgrade is justs fine-tunes or updates the writer making it problem free upto some extent.Remember, make sure u download the right firmware and mistakes(power off while updating or running multiple tasks) can cost u'r writer dearly.

i try to follow a simple rule...
dont fix unless broken...!!

so if ur drive is working fine then dont interfere!!
