Default Never heard bfore

I have a very typical kind of problem.
I have AMD 2000 xp+ with asus a7n266-vn mother board with CD-RW and DVD-ROM since 2003.
very recently i am having trouble that when i insert cd in the cd-rw the computer restarts

in first days it happened during booting but after xp starts it used to read cds.but now it just restarts when i put cd in it(even after succesful booting of xp).

i have checked....
1.boot order where other devices are turned off except hard drive
2.changed data cables
3.switched between master and slave between CD-RW and DVD-ROM.
4.Used the CD-RW in other's pc which worked very fine.
5.reseting BIOS settings.
6.it restarts just when it tries read the cd, it doesn't restart if i put a dvd because it cant read dvd.

What I should do now???
<>Is it problem of motherboard???
<>Is it problem of CD-RW???
<>Or anything else???

Try it on a different IDE channel i.e primary IDE.Or the SMPS can't handle the load of two optical drives.Else, could be a virus!!

Last resort:connect one optical drive only and observe.

i have used each one of the optical drives alone and different IDE but it doesn't help.
havent try the SMPS yet but will do that soon.

A faulty SPMS can wreak havoc on your computer. So, change it. With a faulty SPMS, enough power supply won't reach all the pheripharals and you've seen that in your case it wasn't able to sustain when cd drive required higher power supply.
Do not delay in getting a new SMPS.
