In thory a flash memory card can be used in place of ram....
but practically NO, not right now atleast...
the memory is slow....

Let me guess what u are thinking.... If u have a flash memory as ram u will not need to load the kernel everytime u boot and it will just be
"turn on the switch and use"... but the fact is that
-Flash memory is expensive
-Slow
-Small life... u can write only a limited number of times.... say 10000 and then it dies...

Flash memory is used in cameras, mobile phones, in ur motherboard......

and these days we have HDD that have small flash memory attached to them to decrease the seek times and save power as far as notebooks are concerned... but they are just launched and not under mass production... and i dont think this is a good idea....
