HD DVD (High Definition-Dual Versatile Disk) and Blu Ray DVD are not currently available as both the companies (and thier associate parterners) are in a war of words to explain Compatibility as well as Format. It is expected tat by end of this year the DVDs as well as their compatible Droves will be available.

As for a DVD WRITER, u can go in for a Lite-on or a Sony.
Which model of Nvidia hv u been offered ? and tat too for 1000 bucks...

Cheers n e-peace....

Benq DW-1640 or NEC ND-3500/3550

I tend to incline towards the Benq burner, it works great. BTW, Sony drives are just rebadged Lite-on.

I know, Plextor PX-740 is also a rebadged Benq DW-1640. My statement about Sony drives being rebadged versions of Lite-on was based on my experience and is more generic in sense. Sony DRU-540A, DRU-710A, DW-Q58A, DW-D22A, to name a few, are(/were) all rebadged Lite-on drives.
