Default AMD sempron 2400+ temp

A friend of mine has AMD Sempron 2400+ socket A CPU on Asus a7v400 mx mobo with Hynix 512/266 ram.

The Asus probe and speedfan s/w shows cpu temp 65 C on boot only.
He lives in Worli, mumbai. So not so hot area.
Is the temp ok? i don't think so.

Where can i get a good heat paste ( u know that) in Mumbai? plz tell brand with price.
Local stuff is available for 5 bucks.

my athlon XP Thoroughbred 1800+ remains 46-50C.
66C must be too much.

I have an Athlon 64 3000+ which never crosses 56 C even on using the PC continuously for 10 hours.....

65 C & that too right after booting is far too high & needs attention...Or maybe the s/w is giving a false alarm....

The proccy nees to get checked by a pro to rule out any malfunction...Also intalling a fan or a cooling solution might help...

I have a AMD64 3000+ and at max load (say playing doom3/hl2 at high setting for 2-3 hours) the temp never goes beyond 45C. At boot it is about 27-28C.

i heard that these 2400+ i.e. low end Semprons are just renamed Athlon XP. This can be seen in CPU-Z too.
So if my CPU stays cool why not his?
The booting temp 66C is what makes me worry.
Also the frequent crashes r evident.

sempron is different from Athlon make.
i noticed one thing that sempron temperatures are much hotter and athlon have very less temperature.
Athlon performs much better than sempron.
Frequent crashes may be due to RAM problem or CPU to heatsink contact problem.

and BTW the ASUS A7v400MX model board is very bad one.U can check the ASUS forums. Many have experienced same problem.

I have an AMD 64 3000+ Venice on an ASUS A8N-E Mobo and the CPU temperature has not gone beyong 47-48 C so far..

Also , I want to overclock my cpu from the current 1.81Ghz to around 2.1 .. so are there any good cpu coolers available in bangalore..?
