Default FDD problem.. can anyone give the answer.. real confusing


I have not connected my fdd during installation niether had i connected it now...... but why still it shows up floppy drive in my My computer

Anyone please tell me....

This is something interesting to note.

Even same thing happened with me. I think Windows XP just puts the icon there for no aparent reason, since when I installed XP on my system the Floppy was disable from the BIOS and even then , It showed the Floppy drive icon in My Computer folder.

This could be a bug in the OS itself.

Solution:

I used TweakUI to hide it. So, you can also try doing the same. good luck.

i think disbaling or setting the option as not installed in the BIOS will solve the problem so try it out and let me know, i tried it on my PC and it worked

it is not working on my pc... the fdd drive still shows in MY COMPUTER... and yes TweakUI can hide it but i am interested in knowing why Xp does it this was.... Does it believe that every computer has a floppy drive.....

might be a bug in ur OS

nothin of tht sort happened with me

try findin FDD in the device manager !!!

try using mount virtual drive software to unmount the floppy drive

Is is listed also in the Devmgr.........
