HDD Controllers troubleshooting

i got an asus k8n-e dlx mboard + amd 64 2800+ bought b4 2 months, i have nv5700 card , one 160gb sata hdd + old 80gb pata hdd,
my problem is when i connect both pata and sata together, i cannot install any os xp,linux etc.., the mboard gives that beep beep beep .. sound
when i disconnect pata 80gb hdd then installation is smooth,
after installing if i connect that 80gb hdd, no problem arises,
what should i do

well might be a prob in the config of the bios

just check whether both the disks are configured as master

if so try try configuring the pata as slave

if succede post back !!!!
