Default 6600 GT or wait....?

some one in the forum said that nvidia is planning to stop the GFX 6800 series n bring geforce 7300... is the news true for i am planning to buy a 6600 GT(128 MB) and have a budget of 12000 for it. but if the news is true then is it better to wait for few months n buy the 7300 rather than buuying 6600 GT.
As last time i bought a fx 5700 for my older pc and within a week 6200 was launhed whose performance is in many ways better than 5700.

i dont think NVidia i gonna discontinue 6800 series dats juz not possible at this point of time.well i'll suggest u to wait and go for either 6800gt or 7800gt if u can wait and hav that much of budget.6600gt is gud but now as 7800gt has been launched and eva ATI hav launched der 1000 series i think u shud betta wait and den go for a betta card afta sum time.

Well there is no point waiting, especially when there is a long list of hot new game titles for PC in the recent past which would run well enough on a 6600GT. Moreover it takes time for the products to be available to the distributors in India and for the prices to be descent enough to buy them. So get yourself a descent 6600GT with 128MB onboard memory for 10k and save the extra cash for the games/ future upgrades. 6600GT is descent enough in the near future.

PS: Posted Just bcoz your from Jodhpur

I have bought XFX 6600gt 128mb AGP 8x last week and its great. All games such as doom3, hl2 and farcry etc. just went to overdrive compared to fx 5200 which I had earlier.

how much does plain 6800 cost... i think those extra pipelines will be better over 6600GT... overclocking is always an option...

Well the 6800 series will stop only when Nvidia has launched the 7600/7200 parts which will cover the entire budget range from 99$ to 250$. Right now there are no chances of the 6600GT being discontinued.

Btw the 7300 is a mobile-only part. And the performance is around 6200 if not lower. The only parts coming out this year for Nvidia are the 7800GS which is the 16 pipeline part and should be priced lower than the 7800gt. Another is the 7800gtx 512Mb. We will see budget gfx chips from NV mostly next year. The Fx series was laughable so the 6200 could beat it , but that's besides the point. So you can either keep waiting or get the 6600GT for 9.5k and enjoy the games now.

it was me who posted about the availability of the 6800gt's .. i had contacted distributors of BIG , Leadtek and both of them dont have any 6800 series card and gave me the same reason that Nvidia wants to push its 7 series so there is a shortage of the 6800's ..i myself have saved enough to buya gpu but alas now they are not available .. i am planning to buy a 6600gt but a frnd of mine was complaining about F.E.A.R not running smooth on his very high end rig (MSI K8N DIAMOND + AMD 3500+ + LEADTEK 6600GT EXTREME + 1 GB DDR 400 ) .. thats when i dropped the idea of buying a 6600gt.

Yup Fear stresses all single cards including the x1800xt, 7800gtx. The Devs have scaled the performance of the game with respect to SLI solutions as well which imho is lame. If you want to want to enjoy FEAR with all the bells and whistles then you need to get atleast a x800xl/6800gt level card.

well, it's 6800GS, much like X800GTO, which can be modded to provide more performance, it's simply a marketing trick to sale out the stock left

there is no news about 7600 series, even i m waiting for that, if u want to wait then wait, the waiting will never end

I remember when I was going to buy my FX 5900XT many people said that I should wait for 6600 series (it was released only 1 month before my purchase) but in that case suppose i have waitied till March 2005, then insted of 6600GT other will say 6800nU is on the corner, just wait for a few months

the waiting will never end, I m still happy with my FX 5900XT, it does everything i throw at it, although now my work involves more 3d then gaming, but still gaming is there

U better buy a 6600GT 128 MB, U will be able to use it even after Windos Vista comes out, just buy a 256 MB model, that is advised
